Lisa Loeb on myspace board
Posted by: admin on Friday, September 23, 2005 - 02:00 PM
General news New photo up...

Today was mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes with toast for breakfast, the NYTimes Crossword puzzle, grilled up some veggie burgers for lunch, and took a nap on the sofa on the patio with the sound of the new granite windchimes, a gift from Mexico, hanging from a tree near the pool . Sounds hippie-ish, but it's not.

Everyone's been asking what I'm listening to. Lately, it's Wilco, Tegan & Sarah, Pink Floyd, adult contemporary and disco hits of the 70's like Steely Dan, Bread, Kool & the Gang (maybe that's more 80's), and mixes from my upcoming re-release of the Purple Tape.

A lot of you folks are musicians, huh? Listened to two new friends on my myspace.com- John Ireland & David Saw. One from the US, one from the UK. Check it out.

Lisa Loeb an Unlikely Legend

General news Unlikely Legend

Lisa Loeb is full of fun surprises

By Greg Cahill

She's downright handy around the house. Singer and songwriter Lisa Loeb--who scored a modest hit with her 2002 album Cake and Pie and co-hosted, along with Dweezil Zappa, a short-lived cooking program last year on the Food Network--has taped a new segment for the DIY cable channel offering knitting tips. And somehow, between all this domestic bliss, the sexy, bookish Loeb has found time to record a new version of the country-pop song "Don't Be Stupid" for a recently released Shania Twain tribute album on the Cleopatra label.

Movies and TV

General news Movies and TV
Aimee Mann, a literary pop singer-songwriter, got her biggest break in the movies. She started her own record label, Superego Records, after several bad experiences with major labels.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson, a fan, says that he actually based his movie Magnolia on her songs; nine of them formed the soundtrack's backbone. Movie goers liked what they heard and went looking for more. Her last record, The Forgotten Arm, (which can be found at the Whole Foods on Kirby, how's that for tastemaking?) has sold 64,000 copies so far.
