General news I'm really debating whether or not I should make the download section only available to members. The reason for this is simple people are cross linking some files outside of LisaLoeb.us and although I think it is great they visit.. They are causing havoc on my server.

I'm going to be adding new files that are going to make some Lisa fans happy and I think it would be better if when Lisa fans want to download them they are available. Hopefully having to register won't be too much of an inconvenience to everyone.

Folk the vote
Posted by: admin on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 - 08:39 PM
General news Musicians have always used the stage as a political platform for their views, especially since the folk-revival of the 1960s. The Generation-X crowd has become pretty opinionated too; just look at the number of tours currently on the road to get the word out on voting (Rock the Vote, for example). The Folk the Vote tour may be a little lesser known than some, but the trio of ladies currently touring the swing-state circuit is ready to make some noise for the cause. Lisa Loeb (pictured) will be headlining the Duck Room show, and though she's still best remembered by most for the 'Stay' single from the 1994 'Reality Bites' film, she's been producing poetic folk-heavy songs ever since. She'll undoubtedly share cuts from her most recent studio effort, 'The Way It Really Is.' Though not as well known outside of fans of the genre, singer-songwriters Carrie Newcomer and Nerissa Nields are also well-established storytellers in the folk field. Don't let their generally gentle approach fool you; these three lyricists aren't going to make it easy for the opposition come November 2nd. -- Cary Anthes

Cooks just don't like good music
Posted by: admin on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 - 08:25 PM
General news Even Ruth Reichl, editor in chief of Gourmet magazine, didn't escape criticism at her own party, though not from the chefs she'd invited to take part. Several longtime Gourmet subscribers grumbled at the opening cocktail party at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center that the magazine was better before Reichl, the former restaurant critic of the New York Times , took over in 1999. Too cutesy now, they said. They also didn't much care for singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb, whose performance did seem out of place unless you remembered she had a short-lived show on the Food Network with Dweezil Zappa.
